Defining Structure Using EDDs and Other Tools in FrameMaker 7

Course Name

Defining Structure using EDDs and Other Tools in FrameMaker 7

Course Number

FGL 301

Description

Defining Structure explains SGML structure rules and formatting as they are implemented in structured FrameMaker via the EDD. During the course, students will create an EDD, add elements, and modify the EDD to incorporate changes necessary to accomplish the design goals. As the EDD is modified, students will test the structure rules and formatting rules with new and existing documents and books.
During the second day, students will use conversion tables to add structure to unstructured FrameMaker documents and save structured documents to HTML.

Prerequisites

FGL 101 and FGL 201 or equivalent experience in structured FrameMaker and general understanding of SGML and ability to create and modify DTDs.

Comments

Doug is very knowledgeable and organized, not to mention his great sense of humor! I have made good friends with FrameMaker these past two days. I didn't think that would ever happen. Thanks, Doug.

"Overall, I found the class to be very good. Doug was extremely knowledgeable and a good teacher. The manual is well written and I am sure I will use it extensively in the future. I had never used FrameMaker before this class. Now I feel confident that I can produce FrameMaker docs. Thanks."
