Defining Structure Using EDDs and other tools in FrameMaker 7

This is a two-day course that instructs application developers in the creation of EDDs. It also explains the conversion tables that can be used to add structure to existing unstructured FrameMaker documents and how to prepare for converting structured documents to HTML. Prerequisite(s) to this course: FGL 101, FGL 201, or structured FrameMaker experience.

Understanding and Using EDDs

  • Understanding Element Definition Documents (EDDs) and creating an initial EDD
  • Analyzing documents prior to EDD creation
  • Description of basic types of elements

Specifying Element Parts and Types

  • Adding element tags, and comments
  • Setting element type and creating ValidHighestLevel elements
